Soul Bride 06:15
There was no one who could hold you back as you fell through that point in time. And space collapsed around you as the gates of heaven opened wide. To enfold you in that brilliant light as you shed the body's prison of space and time. And my soul sings with you a joyful song I loved you as a friend, I loved you as a brother. But He who’s taken you from me, I know He'll love you as no other. Still my heart aches with memories and the pain of words unsaid, deeds undone. But my soul sings with you a joyful song. The Soul-bride's day of marriage with her Lord as dawned. Oh my friends pour the oil of love down upon the threshold. And give her all your blessings that she may know a perfect union with her Lord. And let your souls sing with her this joyful song.

about

This CD is dedicated to the memory of my mother, Elizabeth Welbourn Seccombe. Her love and kindness live on in the lives of those she touched.

Living isn’t really all that important, but rather the memory a person leaves behind after they’re gone. The imprint we leave in the hearts and minds of others is where we experience our immortality.

As I grow older I and the people I love start to pass, I appreciate this insight more and more. Much of this CD was recorded during the time my mother was passing. Her memory is woven through it for me. And if this music comforts or inspires you in any way, then her memory is also touching you. She taught me a lot about duty and beauty, but its the memory her unconditional kindness which knew no discrimation that is imprinted deeply in my heart. This CD is dedicated to her memory.

The mantras are for me reminders that we are just passing through this life, that we have come to go, that the most important moment of life is the moment of death, and that everything else in life is just a preparation for that moment. The song Soul Bride is one I wrote many years ago for my dear friend Gurudass Singh as he experienced the unexpected passing of his life long friend and spiritual brother, Gian Singh. Its inspiration comes from Kirtan Sohila, the evening prayer of the Sikhs which uses the image of the soul’s marriage to God as a medaphor for death.

The CD has actually taken serveral years to complete. I want to thank all the muscians who particapated in its creation. It was a great joy for me to have Sada Sat Kaur lend her distinct and beautiful voice (recorded at her 18th century home on a mounainside in Umbria). And want to express my deep, heartfelt appreciation to Saribjit Singh who dedicated untold hours into recording and producing and to Jiwan Singh who added his magical touch to musical composition.

about

Tarn Taran Singh Santa Fe, New Mexico

The thing is, I woke up one morning, not many years long ago, and discovered I was 70! How did that happen? I am grateful for this space to share the musical expression of my journey as a soul wrapped in this human form from then to now and beyond. These songs and mantras, and the collaboration with my musical friends, express the wonder and gratitude I have for the innumerable blessings of life ... more
